HINKLEY POINT ANTI-NUCLEAR PROTEST

In March 2012 the choir participated in a demonstration at Hinkley Point, a nearby nuclear plant which is proposing expansion. It is quite close to Cardiff, across the Severn Estuary from South Wales in England. Proponents of nuclear power try to claim "Green" credentials (because the plant itself does not use fossil fuels much), implying the technology is carbon neutral. This is very misleading, because it ignores the enormous carbon dioxide output of mining, refining and transporting uranium. It also ignores the toxic nature of nuclear fuel and its waste and the disposal difficulties, involving many millenia, to be dealt with by future generations, not the purveyors of this obscenity. We commemorated the Chernobyl disaster 28 April, with reference to the more recent Fukushima disaster in Japan. Below is the choir at Hinkley Point recently.

RAISE YOUR BANNERS FESTIVAL

Last autumn, Côr Cochion traveled to Bradford, England for a meeting of street choirs. By all accounts, the choir was very well received (below).
